Washington’s leadership is known throughout our U.S. history as one of courage and for standing up for what he believed was right. This is no more apparent than in our Declaration of Independence, the very document he was so central in helping to draft and gain agreement on, where it says “to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and Nature’s God entitle them”
