On the 41st episode of The Unscathed Life Podcast, I have the incredible honour of hosting Erepere Bello. Her name Erepere might as well be a synonym for Unscathed because she epitomises every single thing we stand for on The Unscathed Life Podcast. Erepere, a mother to 3 lovely girls, and a Multiple Sclerosis (MS) patient living with MS in Nigeria for the last 10years. In a bid to create more awareness and to help others with Invisible Diseases, Erepere founded an NGO called Multiple Sclerosis Awareness in Nigeria (MSAIN) as a medium for this movement.
On today’s show, Erepere shares her journey living with MS for far. She chronicles her emotional story of how her near perfect life changed suddenly with the onset of MS. We discuss the toll MS has taken on her physical health and well being in general. Erepere shares her journey to self-discovery and the importance of knowing and always being true to yourself. The balance between accepting painful realities against a context of cultural and religious expectations of not succumbing to negative outcomes. The delicate dance between being strong and knowing when to lean on others for help. Mothering through health challenges and the dynamics of taking care of her 3 kids and vice versa. Amongst many other thought provoking insights, we discuss the subject of healing from long term illnesses and how you navigate a path towards manifesting your highest self regardless of what you are going through.
All in all, Erepere’s “never-say-die” attitude shines through this entire conversation. At the heart of everything she shares is her desire to teach others, both through her personal walk and her acts of service towards others. Erepere proves unequivocally on today’s show that you do not have everything to help others. All true service requires is desire and intent. There will always be something in your hands that you can use to help others, no matter how incapacitated you believe yourself to be.
I strongly encourage everyone who listens to this episode to support Erepere’s work in creating awareness of Invisible Diseases in Nigeria. Your donations will help support sufferers with getting access to medication for mental health and overall well being. Kindly use the following link to donate: https://gofund.me/62d1b59f
