Born in savlamar Jamaica, akeem didn’t have much of an advantage from the beginning, with limited options, and tragic events happening in his life, he moved to Canada with his mother seeking a better life. Falling back into tough times, his mother and him struggled to find stability, in a span of 5 months they moved 7 times to different homes and eventually found themselves homeless in the middle of winter time at the age of 13.
Down but not out, with the help of some friends they were able to get back on their feet. Akeem started getting involved in sports, mainly football and track and field. Akeem excelled on the field and on the track and won many different awards. Years later he become an olympic medalist, an NCAA all american, and most importantly a graduate from the university of Alabama. With his experiences from the past, Akeem uses that as a reminder to persevere through whatever live throws our way and do it in a positive manner.
