Ryan Coogler's version of the traditional story of a blues musician and the devil is called Sinners Lookmovie. Michael B. Jordan plays twin brothers Smoke and Stack, who return to the Mississippi Delta after years of living in Chicago's criminal underworld in this 1932 thriller. The brothers want to open their own juke joint with the money they have made. In spite of his pastor father's disapproval—the father believes that blues music is the devil's music—they enlist a teenage guitarist named Sammie. Sammie is accompanied on the keyboard by pianist Delta Slim, and the food is prepared by Smoke's estranged wife, Annie. Mary, the multiracial ex-lover of Stack, is one of the attendees on opening night.
