The Kitchen Sisters, together with The Jule Museum, present "Quilts as Monuments: Sew Their Names" an episode to document the story behind our 2026 exhibition "Sew Their Names: Quilting, Creativity and Activism" at The Jule Museum.

Presented as part of The Jule’s year of exhibitions celebrating the 250th anniversary of signing of the Declaration of Independence, Sew Their Names reframes the American story through the lens of belonging. This exhibition features four quilts produced by artists Mercedes Braxton, Wini McQueen, and Yvonne Wells, alongside artwork by Bill Traylor, Noah Purifoy, and the Lowndes County Freedom Organization, to consider how art from Lowndes County has long served as a vehicle for memory and transformation.
