Secret #17: Application Funnels
If you’ve stuck with us since Secret #7, congrats! This will be the last funnel type, called Application Funnels. This is reserved for the highest level program you have to offer, like a mastermind, private group or coaching in some way, shape, or form. This funnel will break past the single most limiting factor of all previous funnels: the environment. How so? Note that no matter how persuasive or attractive your ad copy or VSL, your customer can always choose to pause the video, get a push notification from some other app, or their kids might be crying in the background and they need to go over to tend to them. The aim of application funnels is to get your customer to be on the phone. As simple as it sounds, when your customer is on the phone, you have more control over what happens during the sale than all other funnel types.
[insert Russell's "raising the dead company" story]
Page 1 is your “Success Story” or “Free case study” landing page. Show them the big picture of what could happen to them if they signed up. Or, this is where you show one of your successful customers as a case study. At the bottom of the page, have a form where you can collect their email address.
Page 2 is your “Application page”. Since you’ve collected their email address, you’ll be able to follow-up with them until they’ve completed the application on this page. This is where you have another video showcasing what Russell calls a “testimonial rush”. Flood the entire video with testimonial after testimonial of all your successful customers. The key difference in this page from all the other funnels is that it’s a “takeaway” sale: instead of you selling to them, they have to sell to you why you should work with them.
Page 3 is your “Homework Page”. On this page, have one final video showing 3 things: first, your story that helps build connection with your Attractive Character. Second, tell them what to expect and give them homework to do. Third, get them to initiate a phone call. Russell found that the group of applicants who initiate the call generate 4 times the revenue compared to those who don’t. The advantage here is two-fold: instead of spending $1 million each month on 60 salespeople, Russell managed to generate 10 times more gross revenue with just 2 people. This is the power of qualifying leads, flipping the selling direction, and positioning. This is the power of Application Funnels.
So that’s it for Secret #43: Application Funnels. If you got tons of value from just this one episode, you could get so much more with the full original copy of the DotCom Secrets book.
