Burnout? Quiet Quitting? How about the antidote - Compassion? At the risk of being perceived as too warm/fuzzy and navel-gazing, we invite you to learn more about compassion. In her latest resource, Atlas of the Heart, Dr. Brene’ Brown defines compassion - “Compassion is the daily practice of recognizing and accepting our shared humanity so that we treat ourselves and others with loving-kindness, and we take action in the face of suffering.” Compassion is active - for self and others. For those in healthcare, Compassionomics by Stephen Trzeciak and Anthony Mazzarelli provides mountains of evidence-based science to prove that compassion is best for patients AND caregivers. Don’t have time? They say it takes on average 40 seconds to achieve meaningful results. Don’t have any more compassion to give? Then how about focusing on much-needed self-compassion and focusing only on those components of the career that inspired your passion for healthcare in the first place? We invite you to share what you are doing for yourself and others - we want to learn from and support each other.
