You Can Trust Yourself

Episode 44. New Year New Me Is Bullsh!t

Listen Later

Happy New Year! How many times have you heard "New Year, New Me" already this year or in the past?

It’s such a common phrase that is said with good intentions but never seems to actually get accomplished.

How can we expect ourselves to make such big changes just because the date becomes January 1? It’s a very interesting concept we’ve created.

And, it’s capitalized on more than any other day of the year by large corporations that don’t actually want you to succeed.

Now, you know we’re all about self-improvement, becoming the highest version of ourselves, learning, growing, and change. But these things are a life-long process, not something that can be accomplished in one day.

When we put so much pressure on ourselves to turn everything around once the clock strikes midnight, we’re setting ourselves up for failure. This is why so many people have the same intention every single new year.

If this is you, it’s okay. We’ve all been there. Today we’re discussing how we can break free from the “New Year, New Me” cycle and take steps to reach our fullest potential every day of the year.

Some topics covered in this episode include:

  • How the mainstream fitness industry exploits people this time of year
  • Digging past the surface level of our desires to figure out what we actually want
  • Balancing grace and discipline to achieve our goals in a sustainable way
  • Breaking free from who other people want you to be
  • And so much more
  • Tune in to hear the first conversation of 2022 on The Meg And Maggi Podcast! We are so happy you are here.
