E. Merrill Root (1895-1973) was an American poet, writer, and college professor. He was born Edwin Merrill Root in Baltimore, Maryland on January 4, 1895, and grew up in Providence, Rhode Island. Root was a conservative and anti-communist activist who wrote articles and books on communist and Marxist propaganda in the American educational system
