Welcome to our 45th episode! Today we will be discussing the 2016 animated film, “Moana.” If you listened to our last episode you’ll know Avery was unable to guess the movie from the clues, because Joel is a trickster and made her think of 90s pirate movies. Hopefully some of you tried guessing on our IG page and were able to figure it out! This is one of the most recent released movies we have watched so we don’t have as much nostalgia for it, HOWEVER, that doesn’t mean we don’t love it just as much as the older Disney movies. If anything, we might love this movie equally if not more than many films from our childhoods. Everything about this movie is perfect. From the strong, female lead character, to the character development and plot, to the amazing music and lyrics. We discuss all the effort and work that went into making this as accurate and sensitive to Polynesian culture as they could. They had an entire team of advisors that made sure every aspect of the film was historically and culturally accurate.
