I laugh at people trying to be strategic with their vote not because it's silly but because in many ways it is a clever way for people to cede control to someone else.
It's okay to listen to feedback but the decisions you make should be made in harmony with your values and principles and forget if your candidate has a chance to win or not.
Harmony matters more than winning.
