EPISODE 46: JIM SHARP

Listen Later

Shan & OB chat with Toronto ex-pat and now UK resident, Jim Sharp. Jim has made quite a name for himself not only as a sick party DJ, but also as one of the premier beat producers for the biggest 45’s label around the world, Dusty Donuts. His ‘Straighten It Out’ mixtapes are “must listens” for any hiphop fan and his edits are the go-to jams that DJ’s flock to like flies to honey. From his humble beginnings as a drum’n’bass DJ in Canada to producing boombap hiphop as J.Bold all the way to his foray into Baltimore Club before releasing the first 45 on the then brand new Dusty Donuts label in 2014, Jim has always kept it funky. He’s also got releases on labels such as Soul By The Pound, Private Stock and Soul Dynomite and he’s played with everyone from George Clinton to Mobb Deep. In addition to going deep into conversation about all this, the boys drop exclusive sets of Jim’s hiphop, funk and soul 45’s, plus a stack of his tracks from way back to now, including 2 of his brand new jams that haven’t even been released to the public yet. Can’t say we didn’t warn ya.
