As the clock above the counter ticked loudly above the silence of the Nurse's Station, Dewi, who was concentrating on a spreadsheet on the computer screen suddenly looked up and
realized that she was very much alone. Nurse Jenny and the medical
officer on duty, Dr Wu had left for their breaks at the pantry at the end of the hallway
and the sudden silence seemed to unnerve her.

The uneasy feeling settled around her and for the first time, she felt an air of dread, like
something unpleasant was about to happen to her.

The feeling dissipated when a Chinese lady appeared around the corner, carrying a
fruit basket. 

At last, some company – she thought.
