Adam Rudolph is the Conductor, and Composer of the Go Organic Orchestra, which has ensembles in New York, Los Angeles, Austin, and all over Europe. Adam's earliest music experiences are of the South Side of Chicago in the 50's and 60's where he heard many of the greats of American Jazz and Blues including the Modern Jazz Quartet. He started learning Tabla at age 16. He traveled to Ghana in 1977 and shortly thereafter founded the Mandingo Griot Society an Early African/American Fusion ensemble. He also collaborated with Don Cherry, of the Organic Music Theater, and Yusef Lateef. The Go Organic Orchestra attempts to make real magic by allowing the players to participate in spontaneous composition that is held together by previously agreed upon pitch and rhythm material. As conductor, Adam decides when the music will change, while allowing the players the ability to decide what the change will sound like. Please enjoy this thoughtful conversation with a person who has decades of musical experience.
