Episode 48 – Pendulum Thinking and DBT
We start off our episode this week with a conversation about suicidal thoughts and ideations. Jason shares with us, how he has been going through a rough time and has been battling self-worth issues and suicidal thoughts. Our conversation runs through some of his thought processes and support systems that he has reached out to.
This week’s Deep Dive delves into a form of thinking that Edward has recently discovered for himself and he calls Pendulum thinking. Based on the principle of Suspension of Disbelief (accepting that something could be true even though he does not ordinarily believe that it is) and the philosophy that if something is true then the opposite must also be true. We discover that this is a DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) technique that is used in behavior, but Edward has also been using for intrinsic values and world views to discover his authentic self.
In our Off the Rails this week, we delve down into some embarrassing personal stories, but with a twist. Stories that we learned from or took an experience from and grew from…Because embarrassing stories are always funny.
