Why has our podcast "Bridging the Political Gap" dedicated two seasons, this one and the next one, to the Presidencies of Lyndon Johnson and Richard Nixon? It is a good and valid question. After all, they presided over the most divisive time in our history other than the American Civil War.
The answer is simple, they may have been flawed men, but they were great men, striving always to leave the United States better than when they arrived. They may have made grave misjudgments in certain areas but they also left an enormous legacy, and changed the country, and the World, for the better. They did all of this because they had one single ingredient that separates them, in my opinion, from the leaders we have had at the helm of our government for nearly two and a half decades.
That ingredient so desperately missing today can be summed up in one simple word.
Competence.
We simply keep electing totally incompetent people to public office and it shows. Here we take a look at what competent leadership looks like even in the most difficult of circumstances, often even when those circumstances are beyond the leaders control.
