There are too many people who continue to compare and justify their life of weakness by referring to the life of the disciples before they received the promise of the Holy Spirit.  Most people are unaware of what Jesus says about them and the many rebukes.  They were rebuked for having a hard heart, lacking understanding, having eyes and ears that could not see and hear, lacking faith, doubting, not believing.  This was the same even after Jesus was raised from the dead.  Why do you want to be this person?  But there is a reason for this weakness they displayed in their lives.  They had not yet received the promise of the Holy Spirit.  We do not want to be a people who still lack understanding and have a hard heart (listen to episodes on God requires a New Heart).  These people don't enter into the kingdom of heaven.  Praise God the disciples were changed from the old man to the new man by the Holy Spirit at Pentecost after Jesus' ascension.
