Listen Later

INTERVIEW BEGINS AT 18:00

When we had Edward Achorn on, Brian mentioned two of his favorite books of all time were written by Ed, The Summer of Beer and Whiskey and Fifty-Nine in 84', and Brian insisted he come back and talk about these two masterpieces about 19th century Baseball . These books tell two dramatically different stories, but each are mind blowing and almost beyond belief .

The Summer Of Beer and Whiskey tells the story of how one man changed the way baseball was marketed, using booze, and mayhem. While Fifty-nine in 84' tells to the story of Hoss Radburn, and the most impressive season a pitcher ever had, but Radburns personality and that of those around him actually manage to overshadow his most impressive season.

These books are must reads, not just for baseball fans and historians, but for anyone who wants to take a trip to an almost unbelievable world and time. And most unbelievable of all, these are true stories!!!
