What do you do when your corporate office decides to hand over the reins of the company to the Marketing Department? We see it all the time with franchises. They aren't getting the press they want to show off how great a brand they are, so they do some insipid marketing stunt that makes the franchisees wonder who the hell is in charge of their marketing dollars. If it isn't backpacks with a taco chain logo stamped all over it, it's a million dollar ice cream cone made from gold and diamonds (yeah, that actually happened).
As usual, we turn the bad into the best by looking at the problem from a different angle. If left to the franchisor, each franchisee would get a backpack for Christmas presents for years to come. Instead, we turn the problem into a community marketing tactic and drive sales back into your stores.
Even if you are part of that taco chain, the problem with franchise chains is that they forget the reason they are there to support you and then they waste your Time, Money, and Effort (TME). Do NOT let them steal your happiness in being a franchisee. Find a way to turn it around and smile while the corporate brand is firing stupid executives and marketing managers.
