This week Jess & Jack talk about desire. Many of us—especially those of us who are LGBTQ—grew up in religious contexts in which desire was treated as irrelevant, selfish, or evil. A common refrain was: “Don’t say you don’t want to be a missionary to Africa; God will send you there,” as well as a particular interpretation of “The heart is deceitful above all things.”

We talk about how to re-think desire in robustly queer and Christian ways, when desires lead to flourishing, and when they present obstacles to flourishing.
