CONTENT WARNING: This podcast will contain mentions of suicide, depression, anxiety, and other mental health challenges.

Applications for our 2022-23 group of Mind Out Loud Student Reps are now LIVE! Becoming a student rep is an opportunity that allows middle and high school students ages 13+ to lead conversations surrounding mental health destigmatization, resources for wellness, and ways to engage youth with activism. If you are interested in becoming a student rep, we encourage you to fill out this application by the deadline, midnight on September 12, 2022.

We are back for our fifth episode - another conversation with a student rep about their advocacy journey. After a brief pause while we transitioned from the school-year program to our summer model, we sat down with first year student rep Helen. Helen and Maya discussed the origins of their advocacy, observances on burnout, and some of the difficulties they have encountered while pursuing self-care as activists. Be sure to listen all the way through so that you can hang out in the Our MOL Debrief Room with Maya and get some more info on some of the resources below :)

Mind Out Loud Student Reps are high school students who work towards four pillars of student mental health: personal wellness, suicide prevention, support for marginalized communities, and awareness and advocacy.  Join a group of student reps to hear their open conversations and interviews with experts and advocates.  Their conversations will range from school and stress to advocacy and opportunity, and will include a variety of diverse perspectives and backgrounds.  To learn more about the Mind Out Loud Program, visit mindoutloud.org, reach out to [email protected], or follow @MOLstudents on Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok.

Although we hope that this conversation helps to break the stigma around student mental health, it is not intended to be a replacement for professional mental health treatment.  If you or somebody you know is currently experiencing a psychiatric emergency, call 911 or visit your nearest hospital.  National Suicide Prevention Lifeline 800-273-8255.
