Today we're talking to Oral Fuentes who heads up the Oral Fuentes Reggae Band as well as organizing the Saskatoon Reggae and World Music Festival. We find out how a kid from the mean streets of Belize ended up in Saskatoon, Sasktchewan, via the jungles of Guatemala. We also discover why there are so many Lords in Belize (hint; it's poking fun at the English peers of the realm!) and that he has a Spanish name because his Grandma ran off with a Guatemalan fellow! Oral also gives us more than a few pearls of wisdom, such as "People get so smart they get so foolish", and introduces us to a superb Creole proverb that warns against the dangers of small-mindedness! With 8 sisters and 1 brother, Oral always had to have his wits about him growing up and his wit, charm, and genuine warmth really came through during our chat! We hope you enjoy this one.
