Duality comes in twos, opposites and many variations. For example: up and down, love and hate, war and peace, or like the exhibit at Altura LA, it's named after: “Beauty and Fear.” On this episode of The Altura Podcast we sitdown with “Beauty and Fear” exhibit curator Summer Bernal and graffiti artist, musician, late-night walker, poet and painter, Sek. Summer talks to us about why duality was the theme of choice for this show, the reason for bringing Pavel Acevedo, Viktor Rosas and Sek together for the “Beauty and Fear” show, and her curatorial decisions when finding art and artisits for shows. With Sek being born and raised in Lincoln Heights he speaks on why it took over a decade to get his art back up on local gallery walls and his efforts in changing gentrification into integration by way of representation.

Welcome to The Altura Podcast!
The amplification of voices with no outlet is necessary for exposing problems and highlighting achievements. As a branch of that effort, The Altura Podcast will be that opportunity for a deeper enlightenment and understanding through discussion and interviews with artists, friends, creatives, and partners. Hosted by a changing combination of its founders, Diego Guerrero, Adrian Huerta, Eduardo Gomez, and John Acevedo.
