The Africa Continental Free Trade Agreement was heralded to the world in 2020 with much aplomb. The question is it more hype and form over substance. There have been mixed sentiments about ranging from the very optimistic through the measured and pragmatic to the more cynical. The truth most definitely lies somewhere along the continuum. However mere existence of a Continental Free Trade Agreement is not a panacea to the continent’s woes and neither will it guarantee success.
