When people see modern art, often the thoughts that comes into their minds are, "Well, I could have done that," "How is that worth so much?" and "That doesn't mean anything."
The problem is, they don't understand the background of the work. They don't see the emotionally frustrated artist throwing paint at a canvas because he's remembering lost love. They don't understand the hours of thought and effort put into what looks like a splattered mess.
Regardless of this mentality, there is a movement in America to start supporting well-made art in all matters of life, whether it be wall hangings, knives, furniture, clothing, or the like. Moving away from the "throw away culture" means to respect your objects as tools, or things that bring value to your life. Â In this podcast we discuss the importance of knowing the value and importance of the art in our lives.
In short, know that all art has value, it just might not be your personal preference. Respect another's hard work and effort, and support the one's you love in their artistic endeavors.
