Tommy is 85 and a true Manc, born and bred. Funny, gregarious and blessed with a great big heart and a thousand brilliant stories, he’s still a well-known character in his neighbourhood. He worked hard all his life and ended up as Site Foreman at Mather & Platt in Newton Heath. When he was growing up, he hung round with a young, shy lad called Bernard Manning and he was recently award the British Empire Medal for his tireless community work. Lovely, lovely old boy.
