Queendom Come

Episode 5: With Guest Sarah Yourgrau

Listen Later

Intro

  • When do Queens do the things they do?
    • Lead: by living, by example
    • Listen: more listening; active listening is such a powerful gift!
    • Speak up: when it's necessary for something to be said with absolute authority and love; Queen of Swords in tarot; when not speaking up creates more suffering or aligns with those who cause suffering, it is a Queen's direct duty to shout the truth; speak up anywhere you see injustice happening.
    • Engage: when you have the energy; you can't engage when you are at a low; when you are grounded and filled up enough to offer something; when through engagement, more love and joy is enjoyed by more people.
    • Separate: when the result isn't changing, when energy is wanted, when pearls are being cast to swine. Queens honor their power, and when staying in a situation starts costing more than they're able to regenerate within themselves, they separate.
    • Timing for Queens: do what serves you the most, when it serves you the most.

  • Level of compassion that comes from times of trial...these times bring out the humanity in us
  • Sarah's dad was a documentary filmmaker, and grew up championing the "other's" story
  • Sociology and Theater major, fascinated by human nature
  • While she started production work in reality tv, Sarah knew she wanted to tell deeper stories
    • With $100 in her bank account, she said "If my heart's not in it, then that's not a life. That's not the life I want to live, and I'd rather grind it out and work odd jobs and babysit and to figure out ways to make certain bills. But I need to start making a declaration of who I am. I have a superpower that is being dimmed, because what I'm really good at is championing people and empowering people."
      • I only work on projects that are uplifting, and inspiring, and use story for what it can be...to build hope
      • Many years struggling to make ends meet, but feeling so fulfilled
      • Once you put it out to the Universe,It meets you. You have to have the courage to make the declaration.
      • Suddenly started getting called to jobs that mattered to me
      • Even though the media wants you to believe that fear sells, Sarah's experience is the opposite.
      • By shouting out that I will only work on what inspires me, I've been abundant too
  • In her feminine superpower while being in a 95% male world at work
    • Intentional about hiring women
    • What makes a beautiful, fierce, and empowered leader? Nurturing, which is a skill in which feminine energies excel. Taking care of our co-workers and teammates.
    • A lot of women have had to be very cut-throat and "alpha"- but this fierceness is actually very feminine, and when combined with our natural gift of nurturing and care, it's incredibly powerful!
    • Vulnerability is power! So is direct communication
    • I am leading by example, I can be the warmest person in the room AND you can take me the most seriously.
      • That is the power of feminine leadership
    • My work team is a sisterhood that I build
    • Learn the masculine game so we can get a seat at the table, then we can start to change the rules so that they benefit everyone!
    • Warmth that is respected is a feminine trait and power
    • When there is love and joy in the making of work, it can only affect the final project
  • How does Sarah make her marriage work when she's travelling all the time
    • Been together 10 years, building brick brick of the castle that we wanted to live in
    • Every single step has included gut-wrenchingly honest conversation, unbelievable respect for the other person, and blind championing of each other
    • When the choice is made early on to build a life intentionally, living in a castle that you both designed, everything is possible.
    • Because we're both doing work that lights up our souls, we love to champion each other
    • Protective of together time. It is sacred, and there are really fierce boundaries around that.
  • What is your legacy? What's the point?
    • If my life can empower one other person, that's the point.
    • I am building an empire of empowered, positive, female drive media. And I champion stories of men who rise to the occasion with love and nurturing and embracing feminnine power.
    • Sarah is building a "For Good" media company
    • You always have a choice, positive or negative. By choosing positivity, you're not naive, there are challenges, but you believe in a solution.
    • Creating the series "Now tell me something good," showing that true resilience is positivity.
  • What seeds do you want to plant with our audience to "Grow the Queendom?"
    • Believe you are worthy of happiness
    • Believe you have power
    • Failure is the best! It's how we learn
    • There are so many women who will support you and get behind you just for stepping in the ring.
    • Dream so big that you're uncomfortable, and then implement little baby steps that you can take every day. Give yourself expanders, people who show you it's possible.
    • Have blind belief in your self-worth, because your voice is needed!
    • Passion will lead you to your salvation.
      • And if it happens overnight, it's not real.
    • You are your only limitation

Q&A

  • What is the connection between our lymphatic system and our emotions?
  • Everything you experience in your life, is held in your body
    • Cells, organs, blood,bones, muscles
  • The body is brilliant, and adapts to every experience you have in order to learn from it or protect you moving forward
    • Sometimes your body gets caught in the adaption and creates a holding pattern
    • Ex: Walking through crowded Times Square, and a big angry guy hits your arm as he walks by. In either fear or anger, you might respond by holding your arm a little closer to your chest. Buf if you keep doing that, it will affect your whole body.
  • My work is about unwinding chronic holding patterns in your body and your life
  • How does this play into lymphatic drainage?
    • Your lymphatic system is your body's natural detox system
    • The physical and emotional body are one
      • If your physical body's way of getting rid of waste, toxins, essentially negative energy, has been blocked, then literally and figuratively, you've been full of shit.
        • This is why, when you break up the lymphatic system, you may have an emotional release
        • Tears are lymphatic fluid and are also releasing negative energy, so crying is more lymphatic drainage
  • Lymphatic system is a mirror of emotional and spiritual health
    • If your physical body's way of getting rid of what no longer serves you is blocked, then the intuitive, emotional, spiritual connection you have, and the ability you have  to release what no longer serves you and attract in what is healing and beneficial to you, is also clogged.
  • "When the mind and the body are incongruent, trust the body."-Alexander Lowen (Father of Bioenergetic Therapy)
  • If you feel disconnected emotionally or spiritually, get in your body. Do some intentional body work, to unwind that block. The physical release will also release your emotional/spiritual blockages.

Moment of Flow

  • "Warning" by Jenny Joseph

When I am an old woman I shall wear purple

With a red hat which doesn't go, and doesn't suit me.

And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves

And satin sandals, and say we've no money for butter.

I shall sit down on the pavement when I'm tired

And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells

And run my stick along the public railings

And make up for the sobriety of my youth.

I shall go out in my slippers in the rain

And pick flowers in other people's gardens

And learn to spit.

You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat

And eat three pounds of sausages at a go

Or only bread and pickle for a week

And hoard pens and pencils and beermats and things in boxes.

But now we must have clothes that keep us dry

And pay our rent and not swear in the street

And set a good example for the children.

We must have friends to dinner and read the papers.

But maybe I ought to practise a little now?

So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised

When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple.
