Dr. Eli Penn is joining Navicent Health Medical Center in Macon, GA, affiliated with Mercer University, where he will be performing advanced therapeutic endoscopy and providing state of the art care for patients with gastrointestinal disease. Navicent is a tertiary care center and level one trauma center. His new partners are recognized for quality and dedication both to academic pursuits and to the region's patients. He is an accomplished interventional endoscopist and endosonographer with particular interests in Barrett's Esophagus, TIF, gastroparesis, pancreatic disease, and IBD. He attended medical school and completed an Internal Medicine residency at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. At MUSC exposure to several well-known advanced endoscopists led him to his choice of subspecialty training. His fellowship training was at the University of Florida, Gainesville. His most recent accomplishments include becoming a procedural trainer for TIF, being selected as a contributor to the AGA's endoscopic suturing registry, selection as the speaker for TIF at Medtronic's annual foregut symposium, and the use of endomicroscopy for more accurate assessment of Barrett's Esophagus and pancreatic cystic lesions.
