In this episode, Mrs. A previews the sites of the Tokyo portion of the trip, and learns about how Japan was closed to the rest of the world for 250 years, the Edo Period, and how in the 1860's it opened up its borders to the modern world. It all comes together by looking at the history of the Imperial Palace and Sesoji Temple. She also previews Harajuku (shopping anyone?) and the eclectic Electric Town.
