Ben has spent most of the past 15 years of his life being a dual-career music pastor and indie-folk singer/songwriter. A few years ago his world view seemed to be expanding beyond the boxes that “church” could contain. So, in order to creatively explore beyond the walls of his past, he moved from Illinois to California and began the next chapter of his career.
Ben’s unique and human approach have taken shape in some innovative ways, including Guided Concert experiences, album art / music Coaster Downloads, and Mantrasongs. Ben is constantly exploring more innovative ways to engage our culture in a manner that allows them to breathe and arrive in the here and now.
THE WAY UP
The Way Up is his 5th full length studio album, and marks the first of this new chapter of his artistry. It documents the past several years of internal shifts for him... the breakdown of the “up-and-to-the-right” thinking that dominates our culture, his own spiritual de-and re-construction, and the awakening to the connectivity of all things.It’s easily the most personal batch of song she’s ever written, born out of fear and failure and loss and joy. He took the time necessary to let the songs grow, evolve and marinate.And, the interesting contrasts and textures that have emerged: light/dark, acoustic/electronic, up/down make for a dynamic and highly personal listening experience.
