Episode 524 – How The Death Of A Pet Can Make Social Media And The World A Better Place?
It's sad around here because our beloved Buddy Guy (100 lb - 10-12 year old) black Labrador has crossed the Rainbow Bridge.
BG (as he was affectionally know) was beloved on social media. He was not a celebrity like Grumpy Cat or a TV star like LiMu Emu (and Doug), he was just a rescue animal from the Chicago pound. He did have a life well lived like almost dying playing ball 5 years ago, checking his P-Mail daily, and posing next to the American flag on Holidays.
He also had a degenerative spine condition that affected his hind legs to the point where he could not walk on his own.
People would love to check in on his treatments and progress but more importantly,.. they loved him and his story.
When he past, I post it on social media and the outpouring of love was overwhelming. What I noticed was the difference between those posts and most that I do and see on social media...

Sympathy - feelings of pity and sorrow for someone else's misfortune or understanding between people; common feeling
*
Empathy - the ability to understand and share the feelings of another
In this episode, we will discuss what I have learned and how it can help you to create stories and post to social media (especially groups) in a way that create empathy (which can generate the most heartfelt engagement).
