Meet Jeffery Heard. Jeffery is an over 40 runner, cyclist, and duathlete. He uses the sports to help maintain his physical and mental health well being. Jeffery is an ambassador for Altra, Rabbit, Tiux socks, Huma gels, Long Beach Marathon, and Athletic Brewing Co.
As he started his fitness journey, the goal was to combat family health issues and stay fit. But as the journey progressed, the goal transformed into inspiring other people of color to lead a more active lifestyle. As the journey continued, the goal morphed into including Jeffery sharing how running helps him keep his mental health in check.
Learning that his younger brother, Josh, passed away at age 26 in Phoenix, Arizona, was when Jeffery realized how important running was to his mental health. This devastating news sent him swirling into a tailspin. To help deal with the sudden loss, he turned to running to help process the emotions that crushed him. Running gave him the alone time he needed and allowed him to connect with Josh.
