CHS is a paradoxical response to chronic cannabis use.  Individuals describe severe, intense, colicky belly pain with vomiting. Relief frequently comes from hot showers and baths which is indicative of the syndrome.  Although the cause is unknown, recent studies have identified the TRPV 1 receptor as the culprit and the ever-rising THC content in the cannabis bud.
