Star Trek: Legacy – XB360

  • Another surprisingly good game… not great, but good.
  • In single player you play as one of 3 Star Trek Captians (Archer, Kirk, or Picard) and progress through
  • Arena Football – PS2

    • Mix of madden / blitz / Street
    • Different and infuriating rules
    • Limited plays
    • Incredible amount of unlockable teams
    • Fast paced
    • woth the $10 I paid.
    • Trauma Center: Second Opinion – Wii

Trauma Center: Under the Knife – DS

      • 2 surgery sims, that are more or less the same game… at least the first 5 missions or so.
      • This game intermixes short “story” scenes akin to dialogue in a cheesy Japanese RPG. In other words a mostly static image of a person comes up on screen and some dialogue is displayed below.
        • This was acceptable on the DS, it’s a cop out on the Wii.
        • “Story” aside this game is about the surgery and the surgery is good.
        • You use the touch screen in conjunction with the DS’s shoulder buttons or the Wiimote to perform a variety of surgery type tasks like suturing, using the scalpel, etc…
        • It isn’t overly gross or anything, but it does get right into the human body.
        • The sound is very limited, again this is fine on the DS, not fine on the Wii
        • The graphics are fine for the game. They’re kind of cartoony which makes the operations palatable. On the Wii the patients are 3D, which makes no difference as you end up operating on a static patient anyway.
        • Gameplay consists of performing operations in parts, each of which consisting of a nurse telling you what to do and you trying to carry it out.
        • If you’re sloppy or slow the patient loses health and eventually will die.
        • To avoid repetition the instructions become vaguer or farther apart and the time allotment gets smaller.
        • Overall it’s better on the DS, but it’s pretty cool on either system. Although it’s value is multiplied by the DS because you’ll tend to play in shorter sittings.
        • Gameplay will get a bit dry after a while so I suggest a rent.
        • Valkyrie Profile 2 – next week.
