Listen Later

Only six people in the history of the Winter Olympics have won gold for Australia, and one of them is Alisa Camplin. The 2002 Olympic champion in aerial skiing backed up her gold four years later with a bronze, making history as the first Australian woman to win multiple Winter Olympic medals. Since hanging up the skis after the 2006 Games, Camplin has gone on to forge an impressive career in leadership and is now set to attend her second Olympics as Chef de Mission of the Australian Winter Olympic Team. In this wide-ranging chat, Alisa explains why Australians should be excited about the team heading to Milano Cortina, how she’s planning to get to as many events as possible, and just how difficult the process is when it comes to selecting Australia’s flag bearers, with no shortage of outstanding candidates in the mix. She also reflects on unforgettable moments from her own Olympic journey and shares fascinating stories from her time alongside the iconic Dale Begg-Smith. It’s a brilliant conversation with one of Australia’s great Olympians that you won’t want to miss!
