God Can Use a Donkey
đ Numbers 22:28 â âThen the Lord opened the donkeyâs mouth, and it said to Balaam, âWhat have I done to you to make you beat me these three times?ââ
Youâre not going to believe this story â itâs one of the funniest and most unexpected moments in the entire Bible.
There was a man named Balaam who was on his way to do something that God didnât want him to do. He was riding his donkey down the road, but suddenly the donkey stopped. Balaam couldnât see it, but an angel of the Lord was standing right in front of them. The donkey saw the angel â Balaam didnât.
So the donkey turned off the road. Balaam got mad and hit the donkey to make it move forward. This happened again and again until finally â and hereâs the amazing part â God opened the donkeyâs mouth, and the donkey actually talked! It said, âWhy are you hitting me? Havenât I been a good donkey to you all these years?â
Thatâs when Balaam realized God was trying to get his attention.
Sometimes, weâre just like Balaam â rushing ahead with our own plans and missing what God is trying to say. But God has a way of stopping us in our tracks and speaking through unexpected things and people.
God can use anyone â a friend, a child, a stranger, or even a donkey â to get His message across. You donât have to be perfect, famous, or important for God to use you. You just have to be willing and listening.
