We arrived at the theatre in the nick of time—just one minute before the show was scheduled to start.
In the pink - To be healthy or in excellent condition. No need to worry about Janny . She's in the pink right now.
In the red - To be in debt. Tom's in the red for quite a bit of money because he overspent on his cruise.
In the sticks - In a rural area with not much going on.
It was a much longer drive to the dinner party last night than we had anticipated. Their house is way out in the sticks!
In the way - Some kind of obstruction. There were lots of people in the way when we were trying to get into the popular nightclub.
