In the summer of 1947 - New Mexico was rife with UFO sightings. When Mac Brazel found a massive pile of shiny silver debris on his ranch, he couldn't explain it. When he involved the local Sheriff - things began to unravel. The local military published a press release claiming evidence of a flying silver disc had been recovered - but they quickly changed their mind and said it was, in fact, a weather balloon.
