Roe vs Wade was a landmark legal ruling by the US supreme court essentially enshrining a woman's choice to have or not have an abortion as a fundamental right. On 24 June 2022 the US supreme not only revisited the initial ruling but over ruled the judgement essentially removing this right and protection from all women across the country. It is no secret that some states have been ready to immediately criminalise abortion as soon as this ruling came to pass. But what is the fundamental question? Many women believe that when it comes to pregnancy it is a woman's body and so it should be her right to choose whether or not to have the child, while others would argue that there is the life of the child to consider and that should be prioritised as it is defenceless. 6 out of the 9 judges were men and so it is not suprising that this ruling went against the 3 women's wishes.
