When Issei Sagawa was only a child, he had a dream that he and his brother were in a boiling pot of water as if being cooked as a meal for someone. He would later say this is where his fascination with cannibalism began. On June 11,1981, while studying in Paris, Issei murdered fellow female classmate, Renee Hartvelt. He then acted out his fantasies and consumed pieces of Renee’s body over the course of several days. Issei was caught by French police, but would eventually be deported back to his homeland, Japan. Issei was immediately admitted to a psychiatric hospital. Would he continue to serve time for his horrendous crimes, or is Issei walking the streets now, a free man?
