Despite a relatively sparse and inconsistent release schedule, the Metroid series remains one of Nintendo’s most popular franchises outside of Japan. In celebration of its proper return in the form of Metroid: Samus Returns for the 3DS, we’re looking back at the first two titles in the series. While they don’t quite maintain the same status of their 16-bit sibling, Samus’ first two adventures are noteworthy and fascinating all their own.
