Fitz and I discuss some of our experiences as classically trained musicians, the challenges faced throughout our careers, and the importance of finding a musical lifestyle that works for you.
Dwight Fitzgerald St Louis was born on the Caribbean Island of Dominica. Fitz grew up singing in the church and was in a Reggae band called Genesis. At the age of 20 he moved to Nashville, TN and attended Middle Tennessee State University. It was there he began training classically. He moved on to further his studies at The Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University for graduate studies and has been privileged enough to sing in Austria, Italy and in Switzerland under the Baton of Sir Simon Rattle. Now, Fitz is combining his classical training, Caribbean upbringing and American training to find a sound that’s true to his lived experiences.
