Adam wiped the sweat from his brows. He knew he was to blame for their predicament but he did not want to waste his energy by arguing with Roy. 

Instead, he sat on a big rock and stared at the visitor’s map in his hands. 

He had taken it from the ranger’s station when they checked in at the entrance of the national park that morning but without any signs or clear markings on the forest around them, he could not make out where they were at that moment.
