Abandoned on a park bench as a baby, David Bernstein predictably went on to be abused and neglected as a foster child. Extraordinary then that David Bernstein found the strength to throw off the shackles of his woeful beginnings to find himself at Yale and Harvard. He has received many accolades throughout his career and as one of the brightest minds in his field he works with distinguished peers and offers his insights via all forms of media channels, everything from Psychology Today to Good Morning America. In this podcast he shares his insight on something that he has experienced and that continues to inform much of his current life, however it is not something that many will have expected. Dr. Bernstein was a foster child. From almost the moment he was born he was the responsibility of America’s foster care system. How did he move beyond his circumstances to achieve success where so many others have found only desolation? Hear Karla’s interview with Dr. Bernstein to discover what motivated him and how he endured placement after placement with one foster family after another.
