It was on this date in 1755, that Samuel Johnson’s A Dictionary of the English Language was published in London.

It was 203 years ago today, that Thomas Hopkins Gallaudet and Laurent Clerc founded the American School for the Deaf, the first American school for deaf students, in Hartford, Connecticut.

April 15, 1865, President Abraham Lincoln died after being shot the previous evening by actor John Wilkes Booth. Vice President Andrew Johnson becomes President upon Lincoln’s death.
