I read this poster morning after morning before going to workout with my team.

"Champions are Made When the Stands are Empty". Those words would bear down on each player in the dark dingy hallway prior to entering the weight room.

In my first year playing football at the senior level - I never quite understood what that meant, only until my team found success at the end of next the season on the football field.

The work you put in behind the scenes is what matters when it comes to succeeding at all levels.

Playing football, at a program that is designed to develop you as a person, taught me so many valuable lessons that I am able to apply in my life today. Delayed gratification is a key ingredient to breeding success. The results that you want to see won't come overnight. Your small habits and disciplines day-in and day-out will paint the picture of the direction your life is heading in.

Regarding football - the stands are empty from December, all the way until the following September. This was when we, as a team, were putting in the MOST work and preparation. The powerhouse team and effort that the fans saw, was ALL developed during the long eight months in the weight room preparing our bodies and minds.

Apply this concept to your life. When the spotlight is on you, how have you taken advantage of the time away from the spotlight to prepare?
