Jerry Besozzi joined the US Navy four days after graduating high school in 1951, knowing that he'd soon be engaged in the Korean War. During his three cruises to Korea, he chased enemy submarines and bombarded enemy positions while aboard the USS Perkins, a Gearing-Class Destroyer.
