Stephanie grew up in an active Latter-Day Saint family and left the church around the age of 14. This choice came after being shunned by adults shortly after receiving a calling as the president of her young women's class. This sent her on a downward spiral of drinking which ultimately led to 15 years of alcoholism and an aversion to religion and spirituality.
She has recently found spirituality through an avenue outside of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Living in Utah where there is a high percentage of church members, Stephanie has found ways to connect to people and find community outside of a church setting. She hopes that we, as a community and society, can get to a place where we can bridge the gap between members and non-members. It takes effort from both sides.
