In this episode, “Gifted but Not Surrendered,” we conclude our study of Balaam by looking at Numbers 31, where his story ultimately ends. Balaam was a man who clearly possessed spiritual gifting—he heard from God and even spoke powerful prophecies over Israel, including a glimpse of the coming Messiah. Yet despite being used by God, Balaam’s heart was never fully surrendered to Him. Driven by the desire for honor, influence, and reward, he ultimately counseled Israel’s enemies in a way that led God’s people into sin. His life serves as a sobering reminder that spiritual gifts, influence, or ministry success are not substitutes for obedience and surrender.
