God wants you to experience something new every day of your life. So if the only new thing that happens in your life is the first day of the new year, then something must change. Check out these three simple steps to experiencing the new gifts of God every day!
Scripture Gem: "Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland." ~ Isaiah 43:18-19
This passage in Isaiah 43:18-19 holds wisdom as simple as ABC on how to apprehend the new things of God. This scripture gem shows us that we must A. forget, B. speak, and C. Rest God to overcome every obstacle and persevere in the face of hardship.
A. Forget
Grabbing a hold of the new means letting go of the past. Purpose every single day to be future minded. When something from the past seems hard to shake, take the time to repent for regret.
Reflection: What is the hardest thing from your past to let go? Take a moment to pray and give it to God.
Everyday Wisdom: So, every day: FORGET the past and purpose to be future minded.
B. See
Raise your expectation level for the new things of God. Speak about the new things, see them, and sense them.
Reflection: Find a scripture that you can use to mediate and pray to help you expect the new things of God.
Everyday Wisdom: So, expect the new by: declaring the words of Scripture!
C. Rest
New things spring forth in our lives as we rest with God (See John 15:4). Taking a break from work and the responsibilities of our lives by doing something life-giving provides time for our creative juices to flow.
Reflection: When do you take time to rest with God by doing something life giving for you?
Everyday Wisdom: So, every day: rest in expectation that God is bringing something new for you!
Put these steps into practice every day and you will experience something new from God in your life.
